When things go bump in the night, do you know what to do? How about your spouse, or your kids? A core aspect of our program is working with your family to teach you how to craft an emergency Action Plan that you can practice and execute in your own home. When we go through these plans, you’ll receive information and best practices established by industry professionals, so you’ll know that the plan you come up with will be one that will help to ensure the safety of your family if and when the need arises.

Practice, practice, and practice some more! Practice like your life depends on it, because one day it might! When attending our programs, every member of your family will get hands-on, practical training. Never fired a gun before? No problem! We’ll walk you through it step-by-step in a safe, comfortable environment on an established shooting range. Don’t currently own a gun? No problem! Let us know during the sign-up process, and we’ll be able to bring one for you to shoot.

To make sure that the kids who attend are learning proper mechanics, handling skills, and shooting skills from the get-go, as part of our program we will be providing easy-to-shoot .22LR semi-automatic pistols and ammunition which they will use in the class. This helps to ensure that the practical shooting portions of our program are easily approachable to everyone who steps onto our ranges.

Spending an afternoon learning in our classroom and shooting on our range is going to give you a great set of skills when it comes to firearms safety and use. However, we recognize that an afternoon of training is incomparable to repeated practice, both in the home and on the range. Included in our program manual is a series of exercises, drills, and activities to practice at home with your family, and on the line at your local range. Our goal is to make sure that when you leave for the day, you know what you need to do to keep your skills sharp and ready, and aren’t left wondering “well, what do I do next?”

In the infamous words of Spiderman’s Uncle Ben, “With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility”. While none of us may be web-slinging superheroes, the owning of a firearm comes with a tremendous amount of responsibility. The good news is that by participating in a S.A.F.E.R. Families Firearms Academy program, you’re taking the first step in taking that Responsibility seriously. 

There’s a lot of pieces to the responsibility of being a gun owner, and as part of our program, we’ll spend time talking about all of them! From safe storage and handling, to gun maintenance, and conversations about local gun laws, you’ll leave our classroom with a thorough understanding of the responsibilities that you have as a gun owner.
